La tintura naturale; un’alternativa da non sottovalutare.

La tintura naturale ha origini antichissime. Ogni paese ha usato le sue risorse naturali e minerarie per sviluppare propri colori e tecniche tintoriali. Le necessità del mercato di avere colori più solidi, più semplici da utilizzare e più economici, hanno portato le aziende ad abbandonare queste sostanze a favore dei coloranti sintetici. Eppure esistono realtà che non hanno smesso di utilizzare le tinture naturali. Gli artigiani lo fanno per tradizione, le industrie per seguire tematiche attuali come il ritorno al naturale e il rispetto dell’ambiente. Uno dei limiti più grossi della tintura naturale è l’impossibilità di certificare un processo al 100% naturale. Infatti, ad oggi, non si sono ancora trovati prodotti naturali capaci di sostituire gli ausiliari chimici, garantendo le stesse performance.

Questo è quindi un settore nel quale è possibile fare dell’innovazione e nel quale si potrebbero trovare soluzioni a problematiche come l’inquinamento delle acque di scarico e la tossicità di alcune sostanze chimiche, soddisfando, allo stesso tempo, le sempre più severe normative europee per l’utilizzo dei prodotti chimici deliberate dall’ente REACH.

Natural dyes have ancient origins. Each country used its natural and mineral resources to develop their own colours and dyeing techniques. The market needs more solid colours, easier to use and cheaper, and all of these have led companies to abandon natural substances in favour of synthetic dyes. Nevertheless, there are realities that have not stopped using natural dyes. Artisans do it for tradition, industries to follow current trends such as the request of more sustainable products and the respect of the environment. One of the biggest limits of natural dyeing is to be certified a 100% natural process. Nowadays, there are not available natural substances able to replace the chemical auxiliaries, ensuring the same performance.

This represent a chance for innovation and to find out solutions to problems such as pollution of sewage and toxicity of certain chemicals, satisfying, at the same time, the more and more strict European regulations for the use of chemicals approved by REACH committee.
