Università e ricerca in Nuova Zelanda
Si entra da un ampia vetrata, sulla destra in un mega schermo proiettate una bandiera italiana e una neozelandese con la scritta “welcome”. Sulla sinistra una delegazione di professori ci accoglie con l’Haka, il tradizionale saluto maori: siamo al Politecnico di Otago.
Una delle migliori università neozelandesi, nel campo del design, fashion, comunicazione grafica e ingegneria tessile, che fonde in tutti i corsi competenza accademiche e pratiche per dare agli studenti la migliore preparazione al mondo del lavoro.
In questa occasione abbiamo presentato a docenti e studenti, il progetto formativo del Biella Master delle Fibre Nobili, e abbiamo approfondito con loro alcuni studi, molto interessanti, riguardo l’applicazione della lana in nuovi campi, come nanotecnologie, medicale e militare.
E' stato molto interessante confrontarsi con persone provenienti da una cultura tessile strettamente legata alla produzione della materia prima, poiché abbiamo potuto sviluppare nuovi punti di vista e approcci a possibili problemi produttivi e organizzativi di filiera.
Un ringraziamento speciale a Raechel M. Laing, Professoressa in ingegneria tessile e a Margi Barton, Professoressa in fashion design, che hanno condiviso con noi non solo le loro ricerche e i lavori dei loro studenti, ma soprattutto la loro passione per questo straordinario mondo.

The Otago Polytechnic is one of the best New Zealand Universities, in the field of design, fashion, graphic communication and textile engineering. It blends in all the university courses both academic and practical skills to give to the students the best preparation for the world of work.
On this occasion we had the opportunity to present the educational project of the Biella Master of Noble Fibres and to speak about some very interesting studies regarding the application of the wool in new fields, as nanotechnology , medical and military.
Dealing with people with a textile culture closely linked to the production of the raw material, has enabled us to develop new points of view and approaches to possible production and organizational problem to the supply chain.
A special thanks to Raechel M.Laing, Professor in clothing and textile science and to Margoi Barton, Professor of fashion, who shared with us not only their researches, but especially their passion for this extraordinary world.
